2/3 cup evaporated milk

14 ounce bag of caramels, unwrapped

1 box German chocolate cake mix

3/4 cup butter, softened

1 cup chopped walnuts

1 cup chocolate chips

Melt over low heat 1/3 cup evaporated milk and all of the unwrapped caramels – set aside.

Combine cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, and butter. Stir by hand. Add chopped nuts. Spread half of the mixture in an ungreased 13″ x 9″ pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes, remove from oven. Drizzle melted caramel onto the partially baked batter, then sprinkle chocolate chips and dot with remaining batter on top.

Return to oven and bake 15 to 25 minutes until edges are lightly browned.

Cool and cut to desired size. Enjoy!
